The James Mawhiney family of companies consists of three outpatient therapy clinics in the Coachella Valley. Although they have had different journey’s of their own, they have been brought together by current owner, James Mawhiney.

Shelley A. Cooper, PT was founded by it’s namesake in 1990. Shelley established this physical therapy clinic which offers high quality care and is ran on a strong foundation of professional ethics and teamwork. James Mawhiney became part of that team in 2010 when he joined as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Serving the valley for 25 years as an owner and operator, Shelley Cooper had decided she was wanting to take a step back. In her desire to ensure that the same quality of care, ethics, and teamwork would carryon under the new ownership, she entrusted James Mawhiney to take the lead. James has now been the owner and operator of Shelley A. Cooper, PT since 2015.

Cornish Therapy Works is operated on the principals established by Dwight Cornish and his wife Jeannie. They founded Cornish Physical Therapy in 2005. After 15 years of diligently providing the Coachella Valley with high quality, individualized physical therapy; they were ready to switch gears and spend more time with their family as they had become proud grandparents.

In 2020, James Mawhiney had been given the opportunity to carryon the values and quality of service that the Cornishes had established. With respect for Dwight and Jeannie, the clinic was then named Cornish Therapy Works.

Moving Mountains Wellness and Therapy was established by James Mawhiney in 2021. This clinic differs from the others as it offers pediatric occupational and speech therapies. As the Coachella Valley grows, so does the need to serve it’s youngest residents. It was brought to James’s attention that the valley was very lacking of outpatient pediatric therapy services. As parents to 7 children, James and his wife Sherronna understand the need for quality pediatric care. After careful prayer and consideration, James and Sherronna agreed that they were ready to answer the call and fulfil this need.
